MEN Van der Sar given leave

EDWIN van der Sar has been placed on indefinite compassionate leave by Manchester United after his wife suffered a brain haemorrhage, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed.

But his 36-year-old wife Annemarie van Kesteren collapsed last Wednesday as Van der Sar and his young family were preparing to celebrate Christmas and the Holland international has been granted permission to stay away from Manchester.

Ferguson said: “Annemarie had a problem over in Holland a week ago and has been admitted to hospital. That is the best place for her to be. They have examined her twice and are trying to get to the root of it.

“I have told Edwin to stay over there. There is no point in him being here. The best thing is for him to be with his wife. Hopefully she will make a good recovery.”

The wife of Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is seriously ill after a stroke.

Van der Sar is at his wife Annemarie van Kesteren’s hospital bedside in Holland awaiting test results.

Sportsmail understands Annemarie, 36, collapsed at home last Wednesday as Van der Sar and the couple’s two children, Joe and Lynn, were preparing to celebrate Christmas.

Out of action in recent weeks with a knee injury, Van der Sar had been given permission by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to return to his homeland for the festive period and to receive treatment from the Holland team doctor.

Relatives are understood to be helping him look after their son Joe and daughter Lynn.

The 39-year-old former international is not expected back in Manchester until more is known about his wife’s condition. The player's agent Rob Jansen said it was 'private business'.

Van der Sar, who is Holland's most capped player with 130 appearances and is currently considering an offer to come out of retirement ahead of next summer's World Cup, first met Annemarie while shopping at her brother's grocery shop.

They married in Amsterdam three-and-a-half years ago and currently live in Cheshire, although Annemarie shuns the limelight.

Van der Sar is United’s No 1 and has been considering an offer to stay at the club for another season.

He has not played since the 3-0 win over Everton on November 21 because of a knee injury. The former Ajax and Juventus star arrived in England in 2001 before leaving Fulham for United in 2005.

Well, berdasarkan pengalaman gw penyakit ini membutuhkan waktu penyembuhan yg cukup lama. itupun kalau pendarahannya luas membutuhkan operasi segera (semoga gak kejadian ). belom lagi untuk masa rehabilitasinya. tapi di sisi lain kita sebagai fans tentu gak mau memaksakan Van der Sar bermain dengan perasaan gak tenang.

Semoga cepat di beri kesembuhan untuk Annemarie van Kesteren

Cukup sedih juga mendengar berita ini... Terlebih anak-anak Van Der Sar yang masih kecil-kecil (CMIIW) yang harus juga dijaga oleh VDS...

Langkah yang bijak ditempuh Manajemen United untuk membiarkan VDS tetap menemani Istri-nya...

Semoga Annemarie lekas sembuh,, berapa pun waktu yang dibutuhkan semoga Van Der Sar dan keluarga tetap tabah menjalani-nya... Semoga Kondisi-nya membaik (walau ada berita yang mengabarkan kalau kondisi sang Istri semakin parah )... Sebagai Fans,, turut membantu doa tuk kesembuhan Annemarie...

Alessandro del Piero berharap kondisi istri Edwin van der Sar segera membaik.

Kapten Juventus Alessandro del Piero turut mendoakan pulihnya istri kiper Manchester United Edwin van der Sar, Annmarie.

Annmarie menderita serangan stroke di rumah saat bersiap menyambut Natal di rumahnya, demikian The Daily Mail.

"Untuk Edwin, bekas rekan saya di Juventus dan pemain hebat untuk Ajax Amsterdam serta timnas Belanda," cetus Del Piero seperti dilansir Sportal.

"Dan untuk istrinya yang sedang berada di kondisi gawat, saya harap saya bisa berada di dekat kalian saat ini, dan saya menyampaikan doa agar semuanya baik-baik saja pada akhirnya."

Serangan stroke tersebut membuat kepulangan Van der Sar ke United terhambat. Padahal, sang kiper juga tengah menjalani pemulihan cedera kaki.
